I’m entering on behalf of my parents who are mind-blowingly amazing at DIY (but not so good with technology)

My dad went on retirement June 2017 and they decided to move closer to the grandkids (I’m just an afterthought since they where born) So they sold their house in Gauteng and bought a house in White River, if you can call it a house. It was outdated and neglected beyond believe, but the bones of the house is good and the architecture somewhat different which suited my parents perfectly.

They are renovating the whole house little by little, but the main bedroom and en-suite was first priority as was the staircase which was an accident waiting to happen.

I just have to mention my dad is 65 and my mom 61 and 99% of the work was done by themselves. I helped out here and there, mostly with taking down tiles and carrying the rubble downstairs, I also painted a pattern on the cement floor which covers half of the bathroom, the other half is wood floor. My husband helped with erecting the dry-wall and the design and installation of the stairs. The rest was all done by my parents.

The bathroom is now about three times the size it was, it’s functional and totally gorgeous.

I’m so proud of my parents and amazed by their skill and vision. They have always been DIY’ers but this project goes above and beyond anything they have ever done.
